Behaviour (2)

This was said by the Lord…

“Possessing two things, bhikkhus, a person is placed in heaven as if carried there. What are the two things? Good behaviour and a good view. These are the two things…”

If a person possesses these two things—
Good behaviour and a good view—
When his body perishes
That wise one is reborn in heaven.

Ethics (2nd)

This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
“Mendicants, a person with two qualities is raised up to heaven.
What two?
Excellent conduct and excellent view.
A person who has these two qualities is is raised up to heaven.”
The Buddha spoke this matter.
On this it is said:
“If a person possesses
these two qualities—
excellent conduct
and excellent views—
when their body breaks up, that wise person
is reborn in heaven.”
This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
