tha-ap.356 Thera Apadana

Sakoṭakakoraṇḍadāyaka

Having seen the path stepped upon
by Sikhi Buddha, World’s Kinsman,
placing deer-hide on one shoulder,
I worshipped that superb footprint.

Seeing a koraṇḍa in bloom,
foot-drinker growing in the earth,
taking a sprig with flowers, I
worshipped the wheel on that footprint.

In the thirty-one aeons since
I did that good karma back then,
I’ve come to know no bad rebirth:
that’s the fruit of footprint-pūjā.

The four analytical modes,
and these eight deliverances,
six special knowledges mastered,
I have done what the Buddha taught!

Thus indeed Venerable Sakoṭakakoraṇḍadāyaka Thera spoke these verses.

The legend of Sakoṭakakoraṇḍadāyaka Thera is finished.
